We also learn the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as work on projects with real-world applications. Every designer needs to know and master these programs, and this course ensures you have the tools you need to complete amazing projects.

We will go over photo editing and manipulation techniques in Adobe Photoshop, such as how to cut objects out and create duotones.
Using our newly acquired Photoshop skills, we will change the color of objects, use the liquify tool and create a compelling YouTube thumbnail, as well as an entire book cover design project.

We will practice using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator by hand tracing simple and complex shapes. We will investigate the capabilities of the shape builder tool, and at the end of this section, we will create a complete logo design. There is a completely new introduction and tools section where we work through a 7-page vector tracing worksheet before creating a complex vector illustration with our newly learned illustrator vector tools. Finally, we will create an event flyer to practice our layout skills and even work on it.

Requirements

  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are all available (Or Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher as an Alternative). Although I will be using Adobe Creative Cloud versions, those with older versions can still benefit greatly from this class. Those who want to take the course with Affinity products will notice that some tools and names differ, so Adobe is recommended.
  • If you use Adobe products, I recommend CS6 or higher for a more seamless experience with the course, but it is not required.
  • There is no software included.
